Rubbin Childress, Sr. was born August 29, 1922 in Louisville, Mississippi to Roscoe and Willie Gladney Childress. He was the second child of six children born in this union. His father, mother, two brothers and one sister preceded him in death.

Rubbin attended Winston Country and Louisville High School in Louisville, Mississippi.

Rubbin was born again at age of 14, he joined St. Lukes M.B. Church in Louisville, Mississippi. He moved to St. Louis, Missouri in his early 20's. He joined Mt. Airy M.B. Church in 1949 and was a faithful member for many years; serving the Lord from his heart.

Rubbin served in the military for two years. He received an honorable discharge and medals for his service. He married Eula May and to this union three sons were born. Two sons preceded him in death.

Rubbin worked for the V.A. Hospital, where he retired after thirty-one years of service. He also drove a Church Van for the Lord.

On Friday, October 30, 2009 the Lord called for Brother Rubbin Childress. He leaves to cherish his memory: one son, Ralph Childress, one brother, Horace Childress (Ethel), one sister, Mae Lee Travis, grandchildren: Constance, Angela Catching, Marquetta Benette, Anita, Loletha Childress, Michael Greenwade, Andre Burn, Stanley Childress Jr., great- grandchildren: Kena, Corey, Shanita, Christchain, Shermaine, Christopher, Dayon, Tre Williams, Ethan, Andre Jr., two great, great grandchildren, two sons-in-law, William Catching, and Earl Bennet, two daughters-in-law, Carrol Childress, Verniece Childress, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
