Lula Mae Price

Lula M. Price was born in Greenwood, MS on February 17, 1910 to Tom and Rosie Parker. Her parents, ten siblings, two children, three grandsons and her faithful and loving husband, preceded her in death.

Lula was the third oldest child of her twelve siblings. They were a very close family. And were told by their parents to always take care of one another, pray and stay with the Lord.

Lula attended Browning Industrial School in Greenwood, Mississippi. Reading was her much loved subject.

Lula was married to James Price for many years until his death. She loved cooking his meals and waiting for him to come home after a long day on the job at the Greenwood Compress, Inc.

Lula worked many years at the Delta Steam Laundry. Cleaning linen and folding was an expertise of hers.
Lula's favorite hobbies were fishing and cooking. She would fish on the banks of Mississippi with good bait and her large pistol. Her cooking was always a result in getting a slice of sweet bread as she would call it.

Lula was the mother of three children, Celeste Turner, Wealth L. Hodges and son, Holdus Brown.
Lula confessed a great hope in Christ at an extremely early age. Her Bible was her preferred helper. She would read it three times a day faithfully. She was loyal to the words therein.

Lula was a faithful member of Friendship Missionary Baptist Church in Greenwood, MS for many years. She was a faithful usher board member until relocating to St. Louis, MO in 1990. She was forever elegant in her uniform.

Lula united with Greater Faith M.B. Church under the leadership of Pastor, Bishop A. L. Kelley. She was a good steward with her tithes and offering. She never forgot her Pastor and his lovely wife. She loved them dearly. She looked forward to the Deacons and Ministers coming out for their monthly visit and the giving of Communion.

Lula departed her life on Tuesday, October 20, 2009. The following loved ones will forever cherish her memories: two sisters, Henrietta Lester and Mary Alice Williams; one daughter, Wealtha L. Hodges, fourteen grandchildren, and a host of great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends at the Baden House Facility.
