Raymond G. Moore

Raymond Gaylord Moore was born in St. Louis, MO on October 26, 1932. He was the fourteenth child of seventeen siblings born to Archie Moore, Sr. and Olivia Kerford Moore. Twelve of his siblings preceded him in death.

Raymond was educated in the St. Louis Public School system and served in the military (Army). He was a war veteran of the Korean and Vietnam War but God protected him and sent him home to us safely. After twenty-one years of service as a Staff Sergeant honorably retired with Certificates, Medals of Honor and Distinction. After his retirement from the military he attended the St. Louis Community College. He worked as a gravedigger for a short period of time and later for the Post Office until he retired in 2006. He was known by his coworkers and some others as "Sarge".

Raymond was a quiet man mostly, his thoughts ran deep, so deep they could not be expressed but on the other hand he could be very funny. He was kind hearted and loving. He greeted everyone not by name but simply "Hey there!" and then that big smile would cross his face. There is a beautiful flower named rose, which has been termed b some as an inspiration of great works, art, literature and music and has been called queen of flowers and is associated with love. Some women bear the name of Rose, which means a woman of great beauty, loveliness or excellence. Raymond met such a woman who had these characteristics and was united with her in June of 1968 and together they raised eight children of which two, Ernest and Myrod, preceded him in death.

Raymond was a wonderful father. He loved his children and they loved him. He was a father who taught by doing, not by telling. He taught his children the importance of work, commitment and being a man of your word. With a jolly spirit, Raymond enjoyed celebrating holidays and birthdays with his family.

Cherished memories will remain with his children: Patricia (Demetrious), Irvin (Michelle), Theresa (Derrick), Jeffrey, Raymond and Towana (Joseph); fifteen grandchildren, Keisha (Jamon), Taina, Ashley, Derrica, Shanay, Christopher, Taylore Rose, Marcus, Myron, Alexandria, Christopher-Irvin, Erin, Erika, Joshua and Janiyah-Rose; two great grandchildren, Jaden and Jordan one brother, Donnell Clarence Moore; three sisters, Eunice, Elnora Atkinson, Florence Beatrice Moore and Delores Geraldine Moore; he has many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Raymond, the "Quiet Man" has left us and because of his decision to accept Jesus Christ as his personal Savior, has joined his beautiful Rose who left us last month and now they both sit together in the presence of our Lord!
